1949 Statistics Update
I know nobody cares much about all the boasting about some random person’s replay stats. I figured that once a week would be good for an update. I’ll try to keep the commentary to a minimum.
If you like, you can watch this as you scroll:
Standings
There’s not really too much to say here, actually. The New York Giants have been lucky; the St. Louis Cardinals haven’t. All the American League teams that are winning have been a bit lucky; the only one that has had its luck go against it is the Philadelphia Athletics.
League Leaders
Again, it’s probably too early to say anything conclusive here. Ralph Kiner is a heck of a player, and the New York Giants pitchers are doing very well. The Brooklyn Dodgers have a few starters who also look formidable, though they are held back by a bullpen that is less than acceptable.
Team Stats
Again, it’s too early at this point to make any meaningful comparisons with real life. The Philadelphia Athletics are performing superbly offensively, and have a defense that gets a lot of double plays. They’ve had bad luck, and are probably the dark horse candidate for the American League pennant.
Meanwhile, you can see here why the Giants are playing so well. It’s that amazing pitching that has kept them on top.
