Breaking Through
Detroit has been pretty good so far in this replay. They’ve been just a hair outside the first division, fighting for 4th place with the Athletics and keeping their nose in the race.
And they really pulled this one out of the fire.
Catcher Aaron Robinson started the game-winning rally for the Tigers in the bottom of the 9th like this:
The score was tied at 2, as Detroit had pushed hard to come back from a deficit. Up next was none other than George Kell, the real life American League batting champion who’s been hitting more like a chump so far:
Walk off wins always feel good, don’t they?
This was a well pitched game by both starting pitchers. The Tigers were just a little bit better.
