I made an interesting discovery the other day. I was looking through an old copy of Street & Smith's Baseball Yearbook when I came across this advertisement:

I didn’t realize that Dave Koch was in the baseball card business before his sport sim days.

None of these prices are all that remarkable, by the way. These are similar to the dozens of other baseball card vendor ads in the same issue. It’s also interesting to note that I wasn’t able to find any Dave Koch Sports ads in issues from the late 1970s or early 1980s.

By the way — I feel bad for you if you took him up on the $120 offer for a full 1982 Topps set. You can buy one right now on eBay for about $60 — and that doesn’t even take inflation into account. Ouch.
