St. Louis was cruising to a 2-1 home victory in this one. The wheels fell off the bus quickly, though, when Al Kozar came up in the top of the 9th inning:
That tied this game at two — but not all was lost.
It wasn’t until the bottom of the 10th that Jack Graham got his chance. With a runner on at second, Graham got hold of one:
And, with that, the Browns rescued another game from the fire.
I’m not sure I understand why the computer manager went through so many Washington pitchers. I would have left Calvert in there. Oh well.

Dodgers 7, Cardinals 2: Harry Brecheen had a hard time staying on the mound on this windy day at Ebbets Field. Brecheen gave up 4 runs in only two thirds of an inning, walking in 3 of those runs with the bases loaded. Don Newcombe, meanwhile, pitched a complete game on only 99 pitches.
Giants 5, Cubs 1: The Polo Grounds faithful were rewarded again in this one, as Larry Jansen made short work of the Cubs. Watch the game here.
