My Random Debut Project
I’ve decided to start another project.
I know that it’s crazy. I’ve already got 3 replay projects going on at the same time.
However, this one is a lot different. This will be a little bit more hands off, and should give us some interesting storylines.
I’m going to use OOTP 25’s Random Debut feature for this one. We’re going to have a 16 team league, one that mimics Major League Baseball as it was in 1952.
Random Debut means that every single player in MLB history will come into the league as rookies. Their stats will be more or less based on what they actually were like during their rookie year.
However, their development might not be exactly the same as it was in real life. To make things interesting, I’ve turned on the following settings:
Player development is on (which means players should develop during each season)
A 5-year recalc is turned on (which means players should have careers that are similar to what they had in real life)
Talent Change Randomness is turned to 200 (which means players will randomly have stellar years or horrible years)
That should make things interesting — and, hopefully, should create a few wild storylines for us.
A few other brief tidbits:
The era will rotate among randomly selected years from 1976 to 1986. This should mean that a large variety of playing styles will be possible.
I’ve modified some ballparks and all uniforms — including using 4 artificial turf stadiums in the National League, mostly because I wanted to.
I’ve tried to set finances up to maximize parity. This means 50% of the gate share goes to the visiting team, teams share 50% of revenue, and, just in case, there is a 115% soft cap on salaries with a 100% tax on teams that exceed that amount.
We’re using the scouting system, the morale system, the coaching system — we’re going for everything this time around.
There will be no minor league. Teams have a 25 man roster with a 15 man reserve roster, and that’s it.
I’m going to include a few surprises as we go along.
I’m going to be the GM of the Washington Senators, but won’t manage the games.
Let me know what you think — and stay tuned for more!
