I especially enjoyed today’s column on portable baseball.
My first game was Jim Prentice Electric Baseball. I was 10 when I got it, keeping track of my replays with a pencil on a yellow legal pad until I eventually wore out the spinner.
Once the spinner's center hole grew too wide to spin, I decided to write to Mr. Prentice. I explained that I was now 11, absolutely loved his game, and had literally played it to death.
I didn't expect a reply, but a week later a large package arrived with two brand-new Jim Prentice Electric Baseball games. Those lasted me through several more years and thousands of hours of daily play—until I discovered APBA.
