I think the scarcity of film / video from that era contributes to the lack of interest . The general malaise in reading anything these days also adds to the disinterest. (I got hooked on the dead ball era by books like “ the glory of their times”, “Hoopla” , “ The Celebrant” .) Baseball simulations (except APBA ) have ignored the dead ball era for these reasons plus , of course, the absolute infatuation with the long ball since 1920 (thanks Babe) .
The “inside game” in baseball simulations needs a a new engine to capture the nuances and the personalities that made the game interesting and exciting in the dead ball era .
I for one care about the DB era. I own Replay 1908 cards, Strat 1911 (before they sold out) and 1899, several action pc seasons, and APBA GO. I really have to think strategy. Make the call now because another opportunity may not come. Sure, sometimes teams will break out and line up hits and score a bunch. Usually, though, it is small ball. I enjoy the challenge. At times it will work and other times not but it doesn’t discourage me. Maybe it is the lack of info or home runs that makes gamers steer clear of non lively ball seasons. Today it is a HR or K. The challenge now is pitching staff management. So it is rare for me to play a game from this century. By the way also downloaded the NP ++. Haven’t printed but was wondering what your take is on this C&D sim.
